Get started with Text Automations

Text Automations is a feature that’s available to Selly dealerships that have the Text Marketing package (which includes Text Campaigns). Successfully-delivered text messages from Text Automations are counted toward your monthly Text Marketing send limit.

Put your text-based marketing on cruise control with Text Automations, and automatically keep your leads and customers in the loop when certain events occur at your dealership. Using Text Automations, you’ll receive the following benefits:

  • Automate your follow-up - Text Automations does the follow-up work for you so that you don’t have to spend hours a day to ensure that leads don’t fall through the cracks.
  • Eliminate busy work - following up with your customers and leads is vital to your success, but it can also consume hours of work every day.
  • Take your marketing budget further - you have tons of unconverted leads that you already spent marketing dollars on. Text Automations automatically re-engages those leads for you, and increases your marketing budget return on investment (ROI).

  • Access to a growing list of automations - whenever we build a new Text Automation, you’ll be able to use it right away at no additional cost!

Getting Started

While logged into a Manager’s account, head over to the Text Automations page (located in the Calls and Texts module). Here, you’ll see the different Text Automations available to your dealerships (Price Reduction is the first automation, but other automations will be coming out soon!)

The Price Reduction Text Automation

One common technique to selling aging inventory is to reduce the vehicle's price. When you do this, you can wait for new Internet Lead inquiries, but a better technique is to tap into your existing leads (those that you already spent your hard-earned marketing dollars on) who have already indicated interest in the vehicle. The problem is that tracking down and messaging each existing lead individually is a tedious task, one that often requires hours per week. With the Price Drop Text Automation, anytime you change the price of a vehicle on your website, Selly CRM will capture that price reduction, and notify all clients who are still in the market for that vehicle. 

Configuring your Price Reduction Text Automation

Click anywhere on the Price Reduction automation, and you’ll be able to configure your desired settings for that automation.

You’ll see the current settings (which can be customized):

  • Send Time - this is the time of day that your customers will receive your price reduction text messages. You can select any time between 8am and 8pm.

  • Minimum Price Reduction - this is the amount that a vehicle’s price must drop by in order for price reduction text messages to be triggered. For example, if this is set to $100, and you have a vehicle priced at $20,000, then the Price Reduction text automation will be triggered if there’s a reduction in price down to $19,900 or below.

  • Client Interest Timeframe - this is the time period that is considered when determining the list of customers that should be notified of the price drop.

  • Message Content - this is the message that all customers will receive when they receive a Price Reduction text automation alert.

    • Note: Scenario-specific opt-out instructions are automatically added at the end of all Text Automation messages (for Price Reduction, it’s “STOP PRICE DROP”). Customers that reply with the specific opt-out will no longer receive text marketing messages of that type. You can still send them other types of text messages (both manual messages and other marketing messages) unless they opt out of those as well.

Turning your automation on or off

Once you have your desired settings and message content, simply enable your automation by clicking on the switch to the right of the automation.

Your automation will now check daily for vehicles that have dropped in price since the previous day, and will be triggered any day that there’s a price drop on a vehicle.

Automation History

Navigate to the Automation History tab to see the list of all Text Automations that have been triggered at your dealership.

You can click into each automation execution to see the details of that particular execution.

On this page, you’ll be able to see the details of the particular text automation execution. For example, you’ll see the date of the execution, the settings that were used along with the message template, and you’ll also see recipient details. You can see who replied to your message, and also message them back directly from this view.
