[ACTION REQUIRED] Registering for A2P 10DLC

Zendesk Admin -

What is A2P 10DLC?

U.S. wireless carriers (AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, etc.) have implemented a new text messaging system called A2P 10DLC (Application-to-Person 10-Digit Long Code), which allows business to communicate with their customers via text message from online applications (such as Selly Automotive) using a 10-digit long code phone number, while providing better delivery quality and lower filtering risk than long code SMS in the past.

What does this mean for you?

Selly provides dealerships with a local 10-digit long-code phone number that can be used for both texting and voice communication purposes. This means that all Selly dealerships are required to register for A2P 10DLC. Luckily, Selly Automotive is here to make the registration process quick and easy for you. This simple registration must be completed no later than October 26th. Failure to register your dealership with A2P 10DLC will result in a higher rate of message delivery failures due to carriers not being able to recognize where your text messages are coming from.

How to register for A2P 10DLC

Every dealership should fill out the following form by October 26th, 2022. In order to fill out the form, you'll need the following information:

  • Your Selly Dealer ID
  • Your dealership's Employer Identification Number (EIN), also known as your Tax ID
  • Your Legal Business Name exactly as it appears on your EIN registration
  • Your Business Address exactly as it appears on your EIN registration
  • Your dealership's business structure (i.e. Corporation, LLC, etc.)
  • Your dealership's website
  • The primary point of contact that can be reached for further information

You can use the following website (https://www.hipaaspace.com/ein/ein_verification/) to verify that your EIN and business information match before submitting the registration form.

What will happen if I don't register my dealership?

Dealerships that fail to register for A2P 10DLC will not only be subject to higher message filtering rates (a.k.a. spam messages) from U.S. carriers, but may also lose the ability to send messages from within Selly.
