March 2021 Product Update

Zendesk Admin -

Hello Selly Dealers!

Welcome to March! Here's what's new in Selly:

Site performance improvements (Texts and Tasks modules)

We've made some significant performance improvements to a couple of modules on our web platform: Text Messaging and Task Management. Some dealers were experiencing slowness issues when attempting to access either of these two pages, and we were able to identify the problem and speed up the loading times of these pages. You'll now experience much quicker loading times in both of these modules. We're continuing to monitor and optimize the loading times of other pages of Selly as well.

New Carfax vehicle history report experience

We've made it easier to access Carfax vehicle history reports within both the web browser and mobile applications (both iOS and Android). Instead of entering your dealership's Carfax ID and password in the Dealer Settings page, any Selly User can now access Carfax reports simply by clicking on the Carfax button on each vehicle.

If you are not currently signed into Carfax in your computer's browser, you'll be prompted to enter your individual username (email) and password for Carfax (if you don't have your own Carfax login, please talk to the Managers at your dealership).

Once you provide the proper Carfax Email and Password, you'll be able to access any Carfax vehicle history report that your dealership has access to by simply clicking on the Carfax button on the details view of each vehicle.

New driver's license updates in the mobile app

We've updated the driver's license scanner in the mobile applications (both iOS and Android). With the new driver's license scanner update, you'll have an easier time capturing the barcodes on the back of driver's licenses. As this is a new driver's license scanner, there's always a chance that minor inconsistencies arise. Please reach out to our team if you're facing any issues with this new driver's license scanner.

What we're working on

We're bringing Automated Text Messaging to the Work Plan

Many Selly dealers have experienced major success in our Internet Lead AutoText functionality, and have asked us to implement AutoText with the Work Plan. Over the past few weeks, we've been working on including Text Messaging to the Work Plan. This means that you'll soon be able to set up deal stage-based text automation to your customers, similar to how Work Plan Emails work!

There are many code changes that are required in order to complete this new functionality, but we're expecting to complete it within the next month or so.

We're lifting the requirement of adding a vehicle to a deal

We've heard feedback from many Selly dealerships about the way we currently require a specific vehicle to be added to all Deals, even if the particular vehicle is not yet known. In order to work around this requirement, many Selly dealers have been creating "placeholder" vehicles to associate with Deals where the particular vehicle is not yet known.

We understand the frustration that this causes, and we're currently in the process of making changes that will remove the requirement to select a particular Vehicle if the Deal is in a non-Sold stage and the vehicle is not yet known. We're hoping that this change will remove the need to create placeholder vehicles just to associate with Deals. There are many changes that we need to make, so this project will take a little over a month. Stay tuned for more updates regarding this change.

Some issues we've addressed

  • There was an issue that caused certain dates and times to be displayed using a different time-zone. We've found the issue, and updated our code to reflect the correct time based on your dealership's time-zone.
  • There was an issue with images being parsed incorrectly during our daily inventory feed synchronization process. We've addressed this bug, and images are now being updated according to the image data on each dealers' inventory file.
  • After making significant performance changes to the Calls and Texts module, there were a few bugs that caused certain conversations to be hidden from Salespeople that should have had access to those conversations. We've made the proper updates to display the conversations properly based on the permission settings of each individual Salesperson.
